“Whether you like walking or are just looking for peace and tranquility, Vila Park is like Paradise on Earth. Jana, our hostess, was kind considerate and fun and worked tirelessly to ensure all her guests had a wonderful holiday. Lake Bohinj is such a beautiful location. We stayed six days but wished we had stayed longer.”

“Set in beautiful countryside, just a couple of minutes from Lake Bohinj and perfect for walking around the lake, or up to the Slap Savica waterfall. A very comfortable room with a lovely balcony. The property is set in beautiful grounds next to a river. The owner is very friendly and was very helpful in putting our clothes in her tumble drier after we get soaked during our walk. Highly recommended. Also, there is a really good restaurant just back across the bridge called Gostisce Erlah. Very friendly staff and great Slovenian food.”

“I have been fortunate to have stayed at Villa Park a couple of times and I have to say... stay away! It is without doubt the most beautiful, tranquil, unspoilt and bucolic location in Europe. If hill walking and alpine pastures are your thing, washed down with pivo and schnapps, it's all good. If you want a more cosmopolitan feel, check out Ljublana an hour down the road but I prefer chatting with chamois and Jana the jolly hotel owner.”

“My wife and I stayed at Vila Park for our 20th wedding anniversary. On arrival we were met by Jana our hostess.
The Accomodation
we were in room 7 which is on the top floor looking out the front to the road. The room was clean and of a good size with shower and toilet. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space to put our belongings. There was a fridge but no tea-making facilities in the room. Tea and coffee was free in the dining room so it was no real bother to pop downstairs and bring drinks up to the room - just dont spill it on the beautiful cream carpet!!
There is a TV in the room which will give a few English-language channels so if you want to spend all your time watching TV stay at home. If you are really stuck the free wifi gives you some online entertainment options.
There is a continental breakfast buffet available and Jana makes the best scrambled eggs. See Eating Out below for other food options.
The Location
Ukanc is in a national park and apparently the Turks did not invade the area because they thought it was the end of the world - they were pretty much right. You are surrounded by beautiful snow-capped mountains and trails wind through beautiful woodlands and meadows.
This is an ideal location for walking and/or cycling. There are many trails, some signed, some not, and Jana will always give you some pointers as to where to go.
The nearest 'large' town (it has a post office and a small supermarket) is Ribèev Laz at the other end of the lake. You can catch the bus (a couple of euros) or the taxi boat (quite expensive) every hour or walk an hour each way but while we were there they stopped running at about 7pm so if you want to travel further afield or stay out later you might want to hire a car or taxi.
Eating Out and Night Life
There are two places to eat in Ukanc the Don Andro's Pizzaria and the Erlah. Both are easy walking distance from Vila Park. Don Andro's serves pizza and pasta and Erlah has a more traditional menu. During the off-season both close their kitchens at about 8pm so bear this in mind when planning your day - otherwise you may be going to bed on an empty stomach. The food was of good quality and Erlah's house white was very (too) quaffable.
If you dont want to stay and have drinks at Don's or Erlah then you can listen to the sounds of the creatures of the night - because that's all the night life there is! If you are not ready for bed by 9pm then you just didnt walk or cycle enough during the day!
If you want to party-on then you could get a taxi to Ribèev Laz where there might be a bit more going on but we didnt so this is a guess on my part.
Summary
Ideal base for walking, cycling or nature watching. The peace and tranquility come at the cost of no night life and limited eating/shopping options. The room we stayed in was clean, tidy and very comfortable.
A Special Mention
Big, big thanks to Jana our hostess. She made our stay so enjoyable. She was very attentive and always giving us suggestions as to where to go in the area and information on bus timetables. We both enjoyed our chats about Slovenia and the history of the area. We will be back.
Thank you!”

“We stayed at Vila Park for two nights. We were greeted by our host, mrs. Jana, who was always available to give us useful information about local activities and landmarks. Everything was clean as expected. The breakfast was fantastic, the eggs were great. Wi-Fi signal is available even outside of the villa, in the beautiful garden. Location of the villa is amazing, you can hear the murmur of the Savica spring from your balcony. We are definitely planning to come back again.”

“B&B really nice, lost in nature, beautiful area. If you want peace and quiet, it's the right place. Since it wasn't the season for tourists we were even more alone and it was perfect. Very good breakfast, plenty to eat. Jana, the owner, can advice you about what to do in the area (hikes etc.), thanks for everything!”
